The National Association of College and University Mail Services (NACUMS) was founded in 1995 to provide a cohesive representation of college and university issues before the Board of Governors for the United States Postal Services and to promote cost reductions for nonprofit mailing needs, professionalism, education, and best practices techniques by creating a strong network of members among college and university staff involved in any phase of mail management.
Seven regional groups promote those efforts in different areas of the United States. Training sessions are focused on the needs of regional members. Making peer contacts with a network of individuals and taking part in smaller conferences are considerably less expensive than traveling to meetings farther from home.
The Southwest Association of College and University Mail Services (SWACUMS) is the regional group representing the states of Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico on the NACUMS Board. Our organization, founded in 1997 as TACUMS, became SWACUMS in 2000 when it embraced members from states bordering Texas.
We are asking you to join SWACUMS and to take an active role in the building of this organization.
Whether you join or not, please complete the information so we can use it for future contacts.
SWACUMS membership is open to all mail services employees in any post-secondary educational
institution in the five-state area.
The officers of SWACUMS are: President, Ute Franklin (Rice University); Other Board members include: President-Elect, Eric Silber (Concordia University at Austin); Secretary, Latricia McMillan (University of Mary Hardin Baylor); Treasurer, J.J. Carroll (Northeastern State University); Immediate Past President, Donna Morris (Oklahoma State University).
SWACUMS is the collection of friends that you can call or email on a minute's notice when you need help with a new assignment or an old problem. Our combined experience makes each of us better managers.
