The University of Arkansas is located in Fayetteville, a city of more than 62,000 residents. Fayetteville occupies the southern tip of a metroplex that runs northward 25 miles along I-540 through Washington and Benton counties in Northwest Arkansas (NWA). The NWA metroplex, from Fayetteville up, includes Springdale (home of Tyson Foods, the world's largest meat producer), Lowell (home of J.B. Hunt Trucking), Rogers, Bentonville (home of Wal-Mart Stores Inc., the world's largest corporation), and Bella Vista, the last stop before the state border.

  • Northwest Arkansas is growing rapidly, due to a booming regional economy. In fact, in the 2005 Milken Report on the Best Performing Cities, the NWA metroplex ranked eighth in the country in economic performance, with "the third fastest wage and salary gains in the nation over the last five years." The Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers metropolitan area was recently ranked by the U.S. Census Bureau as being the sixth fastest-growing metro area in the nation. From 1990 to 2000, the metropolitan area grew 47.5 percent, from 210,908 to 311,121.

Situated on the Ozark Mountain Plateau, Northwest Arkansas offers friendly people, beautiful scenery, a moderate climate, excellent school districts, and a dynamic economy in which the unemployment rate runs well below national averages. Fayetteville itself presents the vibrant cultural life associated with a major university town. Since the 1960s, the area has been a haven for writers, artists, poets and musicians. In recent years, Fayetteville has been named "One of America's Most Livable Cities," one of the "Top 10 Best Places to Retire," "One of America's 'Hottest' Cities," one of the nation's "least stressful" metro areas, and among the "Best Places to Live in America" by publications such as Frommer's Guide and Money magazine.

Mailing Services and the Campus Post Office are a division of Print*Mail*Copy Solutions. We have a project manager who also oversees all copy machines on Campus.

My position is Operations Manger in charge of the daily operations of Mailing Services and the Campus Post Office. We employ 10 full-time and 2 part-time employees for the two Mail units. Mailing Services serves the campus community with 2 deliveries and 2 pickups a day except for Mondays when there is 1.

Our Campus Post Office has two full-time employees. 2 months ago we went through a major change including an expansion of the Campus Post Office. In addition to the expansion build-out, we converted our CPU contract on January 29, 2008 from a stipend based to performance based contract. Previously we used the "1412" method of accounting.

The CARS system by contract requires us to purchase our stamps and meter funds so we own them. There is no accounting to the USPS except for our electronic download of our sales information every night. Our compensation for our sales is a negotiated percentage.

We also offer to the Campus Community shipping through FedEx, UPS and DHL.
